Seán Lyons is a singer-songwriter, guitarist and uilleann piper born and bred in County Clare, Ireland. Growing up in a family steeped in Irish traditional music and song, Seán spent his formative years travelling around Ireland with his parents to festivals and competitions where he received a firm grounding in his native music. As a teenager, he developed an interest in interpreting traditional songs and has been praised for his sensitive, emotive approach. Having won Clare’s Got Talent, adjudicated by Brian Kennedy, in 2017, he has gone on to perform at some of the most prestigious venues in Ireland such as Dolan's in Limerick, Whelan's in Dublin, the Hawk's Well in Sligo, as well as at festivals like Tradfest Templebar, Electric Picnic, Forest Fest and Celtic Connections. Additionally, he has played in the US, UK and Italy. Drawing songwriting inspiration from the likes of Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan and Declan O’Rourke while keeping his Irish traditional roots close to heart, he released his debut recording ‘Juliana EP’ in 2023. Consisting of five self-penned songs, the EP centres on various themes including mental health, loss and national identity. Aside from his solo shows, he has opened for such acts as Hermitage Green, Niall McCabe and George Murphy & The Rising Sons. His music has been described as “truly wonderful and refreshing” by Stockton’s Wing frontman Mike Hanrahan, while legendary Cork balladeer Jimmy Crowley has said there is a “fulsome range to his voice”.
