Miss Harriet Willes invites you to attend an afternoon of her favourite dances, as documented in her own hand.
Harriet was the sister of the vicar of the nearby village of Christian Malford in the 1790s, and collected tunes and dances in her musical scrapbooks, now held in the local archives.
Fans of Jane Austen and her milieu, and even Bridgerton, will learn a bit of local history and some authentic, accessible social dances in this workshop and dance organised in collaboration with Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre and the 'Music, Heritage, Place' research project.
If you wish, dress up as your favourite Bridgerton/Austen character and bring a fan or dance card, or simply just turn up as you are, and have fun learning regency dances collected locally. (G)
Louise Siddons Louise Siddons is a caller, teacher, and historian of social folk dances and related forms from the 17th century through to the present. She creates welcoming, fun events for all experience levels.
